Pamela and Louis’s Classic River House Wedding
When I first met Pamela to discuss her wedding, I know I had found my kindred sprit. She knew exactly what she wanted, simple, elegant, and classic with a twist. Most of all, she wanted something personal. Pamela and Louis’s classic, River House wedding featured a palette of dark green, champagne, and also ivory, accented by timeless hints of blush.
Pam’s stunning, blush gown was a huge hit. Keeping the classic with a twist, Lou channeled Johnny Cash with a black on black tux set. Overall, this look was unique and really reflected his personal style.
In addition to personal wedding elements, Pam and Lou’s uniquely ethnic backgrounds of Peruvian and Puerto Rican descent were also incorporated. The food, dancing, and even their favors reflected important family backgrounds. For hors d’oeuvres, tostones with vaca frita and an avocado spread were served, in addition to ceviche. Lastly, homemade algarrobina and alfajores were served as desserts.
The DJ made sure the Hora Loca was rocking (known as crazy hour with latin music and props for the guests). Little areas around the River House included a beautiful memorial table, called a “Heaven Table,” which was a very important element. Pam and Lou also had a beautiful Florida picture that guests signed. It now uniquely hangs in their home as a piece of art and additionally a keepsake.
One the groom’s requests that could not be left out was the wedding cake. He had a very specific cake in mind, in short Lou had to have it! In fact, it has been one the biggest wedding cake hits ever! A beautiful, blush cake from Biscotti’s was made to mimic Lou’s favorite dessert of white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, coupled with a plate of white chocolate shavings just for him.
Over the years I have had some amazing clients. With Pamela, I not only had one of the best clients ever, but she has also become a friend. I am currently thrilled that she and her husband will be welcoming their first child into the world very soon. Pamela is one of the hardest working brides I have met; this young woman not only worked tirelessly on her own wedding, but also worked two jobs while being in the middle of an extremely tough school program (Pam was doing homework the morning of her wedding). Overall, I am so proud of her and her accomplishments and that she trusted us with one of her most important days.
